Die 1994 aus der L.A. thrash combo PSYCHOSIS hervorgegangene Band PROTOTYPE stellt mit "Encloned" ihre neuste Demo-CD vor.

Kraftvoller und vorwärtspreschender Thrash metal ist die bei PROTOTYPE die Devise. Der Opener Transcendent velocity holzt gleich in früher Overkill-Manier durchs Trommelfell. Mind in motion ist ein getragenerer Thrash-Track, während Synthespian schon als Progressive Thrash durchgehen könnte, denn das Stück ist selbst für Nicht-Thrasher ein Juwel. Komplex, etwas verzwickt und technisch nicht minder anspruchsvoll. Auch Shine besitzt genau diese Attribute, wow !
Seed erinnert streckenweise an Metallica auf "Master of Puppets" ... herrlich spröde und dann wieder sanftgestimmte Gitarren mit stehenden Tönen. Der Schlußtrack Dead of Jericho ist sogar noch eine Spur metallica-mäßiger ("Ride the lightning"-Zeiten), aber eben immer einen Tick Gehör-fordernder.

Tolles Album. Für Thrash-Metaller ein absolut heißer Tip. Für Nicht-Thrasher gilt: lasst Euch nicht von den ersten beiden Brettern abschrecken, denn die anderen 4 Songs lassen auch Truemetal-Herzen höher schlagen ... zumindest jene, die die Anfangszeit Metallicas nicht in der Wiege verschlafen haben ... ;-) 7 Punkte

The californian thrash metallers PROTOTYPE have surprised me with a very interesting thrash metal demo cd ("Cloned"). The first two songs kick butt like early and rough material of OVERKILL (nearly forcing me to stop the CD as I am not quite a thrash-metalhead) but the other 4 songs really stunned me. PROTOTYPE are able to proof that they play the music they claim to play. Progressive thrash metal. And yes, it is. Technically high levelled instrumental skills and a songwriting somewhere between OVERKILL and METALLICA (on "Master of puppets" and "Ride the lightning") but PROTOTYPE are a bit more complicated (especially the melodies of the vocals). Thrash-fans will love PROTOTYPE, straight metallers should take care not to get overpowered by the first and the second song ... 7 points
