Das dritte Album der Detroiter TILES bietet erneut proggigen Hardrock, ist jedoch einen Tick moderner und heavier als seine Vorgänger.

Der Opener Static ist wohl gleich einer der interessantesten Songs dieses Albums. Groovender, melodischer Hardrock mit Prog-Anleihen. Vor allem der Refrain begeistert durch seine ergreifende Sanftmut.

Rockig rau und gegen Ende dann keyboard-atmosphärig ist Modification ausgefallen, während mit Facing Failure ein irgendwie yes-iger Song geglückt ist.

Ein lupenreiner und makelloser Progrock-Song mit Hardrock-Flair wartet mit The learning curve auf, bevor mit Ballad of the sacred cows ein abgedrehtes Instrumental am Start ist, das sowohl proggigen Hardrock, rockigen Metal und jazz/fusionartige Streusel abfeuert.

Die Platte hält bis zum Schlußtrack dieses überdurchschnittliche Niveau und untermauert dies durch den 11-minütigen stimmungsvollen Knaller Reasonable doubt ... zwar nicht unbedingt proggig, aber charismatisch, nahegehend und angenehm hart. Ein Ausnahmetrack !

Wer Prog hört und mit Hardrock nicht auf Kriegsfuß steht, dem sei diese Scheibe wärmstens empfohlen ! Fans der anspruchsvollen Rockmusik sollten auch mal einen Schritt in Richtung Prog unternehmen ... dieses Album kann hierfür die Brücke sein. 7 Punkte

The album finds the band expanding their arrangements to include lush vocal harmonies, keyboards and a host of acoustic instrumentation. So if you're a fan of unusual hardrock you should check this album ... and if you're a progrocker with some attitude to hardrock, you should check it out, too. 7 points
