Babylon "Babylon" english summary

Prog-Nostalgiker aufgepasst. Aufgenommen 1977, 1995 remixed, remastered und 1999 von Syn-Phonic wiederveröffentlicht. Eine hervorragende Möglichkeit, sich mit dieser 70er-Ausnahme-Progband vertraut zu machen.

BABYLON können es mit links mit den allseits vergötterten Asbach-Genesis Albe aufnehmen. Ausufernd, symphonisch, rhythmisch abwechselnd, freakig, atmosphärisch und das Ganze noch in hervorragendem 70er Sound. So einige Male möchte man meinen, MARILLION hätten sich 10 Jahre später bei BABYLON bedient. Absolutes Highlight ist der 10-Minüter Before the fall, der - zu Beginn noch relativ brav - sich gegen Ende zu einem mitreissendem 70er-Prog-Inferno ausufert. Extraklasse ! Ebenso verhält es sich mit Dreamfish ... freakige Passagen, schräge Keyboards, leicht trashiges Drumming, atemberaubende Tonfolgen ... es stimmt einfach alles. Und zum krönenden Abschluss gibts Cathedral of the mary ruin, den Genesis mit Gabriel nicht besser hinbekommen hätten.

Herrlich ! Wer die alten Genesis, King Crimson, Gentle Giant oder Van der Graf Generator und Co. im Schrank hat, der muss diese CD sein eigen nennen ! Wertung: 9

Wow, that a great album this is ! The band: BABYLON. The songs: recorded 1977, remastered 1995, rereleased by Syn-Phonic in 1999. Take the old Genesis, some Gentle Giant, a bit Van der Graf Generator, add some straight components owned by Babylon itself, put them into a pot, mix them and you get BABYLON. Long songs ranging from symphonic to weird'n'beautiful progrock on the highest level. Thinking of the fact, that these songs were recorded 1977, the remastered sound sounds great even without removing the flair typical 70ies recordings. Sometimes I get the impression, that MARILLION were inspired by BABYLON (listen to the first half of the great Before the fall. Progrockers (not only the nostalgic ones) get a brilliant piece of work here ! 9 points
