Carl Weingarten ist Komponist und nebenbei ein exzellenter Meister der akustischen Slide-Gitarrenspielkunst. Auf dem vorliegenden 1995er Meilenstein "The acoustic shadow" zaubert er einen spacigen Soundtrack, dessen Handlung er dem Hörer überlässt.

Der gute Carl tischt jedoch immer wieder Anhaltspunkte für die Handlung auf und der Beitext dieser CD hat damit nicht unrecht, wenn er das Album als "a different kind of mystery - one to understand first through intuition, then intellectually" bezeichnet. Die Bandbreite der Einflüsse reicht von ambienter World Music, Stammesatmosphäre, nächtlichem Nepal über progressiv- angehauchte Akustikgitarre-Instrumentals (oftmals mit Synthi und Querflöte begleitet) bis hin zu leicht meditativen Percussion-Melodie-Kombinationen. "The acoustic shadow" mutet dabei an wie ein multikultureller Ritt durchs Welt-All, während dem man faszinierende Schönheiten sieht ... aber auch von der bedrohlichen Kälte des Weltraums nicht verschont bleibt.

Eine tolle CD mit bewegenden Stimmungen, exzellenter Klangweite und tollem (niemals aufdringlichem) Gitarre-Spiel.

Carl Weingarten is composer and a skillfull acoustic slideguitar player. The 1995 album "The acoustic shadow is a magic and spacy soundtrack which leaves the story to the imagination of the listener. The booklet calls this CD "a different kind of mystery - one to understand first through intuition, then intellectually". The bandwith of the music ranges from world music, ethnic tribal chants, nepal at night, progressive-influenced acoustic guitar instrumentals (accompanied by synthesizers and flute) to mediation-style percussion/melody-combinations. "The acoustic shadow" sounds like a multi-cultural ride through space offering fascinating beauty to discover ... and still feeling the freezing cold breeze of the universe. A great instrumental CD with capturing atmosphere, wide sound and sensitive guitar playing.
