Demon Drive "Heroes" english summary

Casanova waren Anfang der 90er das deutsche Aushängeschild in Sachen Melodic Rock. Die Band um Michael Voss (u.a. MAD MAX, BONFIRE) legte sich 1994 auf Eis und Michael Voss gründete daraufhin die Band DEMON DRIVE. Nach einem unglücklich releastem Debüt belebte "Vossi" CASANOVA wieder und nahm das Album "Heroes" auf. Um Rechtsstreitigkeiten bzgl. des Bandnamens CASANOVA zu vermeiden, sammelte Michael Voss die alte DEMON DRIVE-Crew wieder um sich und nahm die besten Songs von "Heroes" unter neuer Flagge nochmal auf. Somit wurde aus dem dritten CASANOVA-Album das zweite DEMON DRIVE-Album.

Los gehts mit dem tollen Banger Prologue/Time machine dessen Refrain melodisch doch sehr stark an TOTO'S Africa erinnert. Spannend, schwer und episch präsentiert sich Going underground, wenn auch während des Refrains nahe an den Sleeze-Rock-Gefilden gebaut wird. Farewell, thunderchild rockt in bester DOKKEN-Manier ... toller Refrain. Abgefahren (und 08/15-riffig) dümpelt Sex is an alien daher ... irgendwie total panne ... aber geiler Party-Track. Es folgen mit Heroes und Star zwei supermelodische AOR/Heavyrock-Nummern ... nett, aber irgendwie nix besonders. Über die Schmacht-Ballade In the heart of a woman breite ich den Mantel des Schweigens. Dominoes lässt wieder Stimmung aufkommen .... da sieht man sofort Alanah Miles auf der Veranda vor sich. In schnellere Bonfire-Regionen bewegt sich Stranded. Heaven knows klingt etwas zu poliert, aber am Ende wirds nochmal grimmig mit All that matters und dem Epilogue.

Feinkost für melodic rock-fans und Heavyrocker. Wertung: 7

CASANOVA was on of Germany's biggest hardrock/AOR-bands in the beginning of the 90ies. DEMON DRIVE is the second band on CASANOVA-vocalist Michael Voss. Their second album is entitled "Heroes" and originally was supposed to be the third CASANOVA album. The album starts with three great tracks Prologue/Time machine (chorus reminds me of TOTO's Africa), the epic Going underground and the DOKKEN-esque Farewell thunderchild. Sex is an alien somehow is a stupid song ... but damn cool, too. The middle of the album is a bit more straight ... (the ballad In the heart of a woman could have been dropped from this album). The album ends with the groovin' Dominoes (Alanah Miles style), Stranded (sounds like fast BONFIRE tracks) and the mean'n'evil All that matters. A highly recommendable fest for fans of melodic rock / heavyrock ! 7 points
