Ende der 70er wurde im heutigen Nizhny Novgorod die russische Band HORIZONT gegründet. "Summer in town" war ihr erstes Album und erschien im Jahre 1985. Vorliegendes Album ist ein taufrischer Re-Release.

Keyboardflächen im "Silent cries and mighty echoes"-Stil, neoprogressive Elemente, old school prog-Einflüsse, atmosphärische Stimmen, harmonische Melodien, weiche Gitarren und mächtige Pedal-Sounds bestimmen diese hervorragenden 39 Minuten, die in keiner anspruchsvollen Progsammlung fehlen dürfen. Jeder Song schraubt sich zielstrebig gen Ekstase, immer wieder aufgelockert von himmlischen Flächen und phantastischer Old-School-Atmosphäre. Der Titelsong erweitert die Facette gar um melodisch und freakig strukturierte Soundscapes, symphonische Synthi/Keyboard-Schleicher, augenzwinkernde Gesangseinlagen und fusion-ähnlichen Wendungen .... ohne Übertreibung ein Jahrhundert-Track !

Eine Ausnahmeband ! Während "Summer in town" eher neoprogressive Feinkost bietet, gibts auf dem zeitgleich wiederveröffentlichten Album "The portrait of a boy" komplex-atmosphärische Avantgarde-Prog-Gaumenfreuden. Für beide Alben gilt: Unbedingter Nachholbedarf !!!!

HORIZONT were founded in the end of the 70ies in Nizhny Novgorod/Russia. "Summer in town" was their first album and was released in 1985. Boheme Music (CZ) has re-released this jewel of eastern european prog history in great sound and state of the art packaging. I should stop writing and just tell you: "Buy it !" Keyboard-carpets in the style of ELOY'S "Silent cries and mighty echoes", neoprogressive elements, old school prog, atmospheric voices, harmonic melodies, soft guitars and mighty pedal and synthy sounds make this 39 minutes a CD that has to be found in every collection of a progrock fan. Don't forget tp check out their (also rereleased) album "The portrait of a boy" which offers a bit more complexity and avantgarde-prog elements. What a pity that this russian band never made it into the shelves over here ! Phantastic !
