Ignition Spark "Beneath the surface" english summary

IGNITION SPARK wurden 1993 gegründet . "Beneath the surface" ist die dritte Demo des Baden Württembergischen Quintetts.

Die Demo-CD enthält 3 Songs, die sich allesamt im Bereich zwischen Softpoprock und Progrock bewegen. Der Opener Tranquil ist eine groovige Nummer, bei der es kompositorisch nichts auszusetzen gibt. Etwas ruhiger und getragener geht es auf Theatre of dreams zu. Der 8-Minüter The doorstep entpuppt sich als das kleine Progperlchen dieser Demo-CD, insbesondere dank der flächigen Keyboards, einfühlsamen Guitarsoli, dezenter Dramatik, überwiegender Instrumentaleinlagen und hymnischer Klavierunterstützung.
Die Stärken von IGNITION SPARK liegen vor Allem in den sanften Harmonien der Gitarrenakkorde ... die Schwäche ist eindeutig beim Gesang zu suchen, denn hier fehlt es sowohl an Variabilität, Stabilität und an griffigen Hooks.

Das äußerst vielversprechende The doorstep zeigt, daß wir von IGNITION SPARK zukünftig sicherlich etwas erwarten können. Ein guter Tip sind IGNITIONS PARK derzeit jedoch nur für Jäger und Sammler im Underground-Dickicht. Wertung: 4

IGNITION SPARK are a band from Germany, founded in 1993. "Beneath the surface" is their third release, containing three songs somewhere betweens soft poprock and melodic progrock. The opener Tranquil is a groovy song with no weak aspects to be found in the songwriting. Theater of dreams is a more soft and epic tracks. The 8-minute The doorstep is the little jewel of this CD, especially because of the spacy keyboards, soft guitar solo and hymnic piano and instrumental parts. IGNITION SPARK have their strength in the sensitive harmonies of the guitar chords ... their main weakness are the vocals ... here I am missing catchy hooks, souveranity and variability. So overall only The doorstep is a fairly good track, showing that we can expect more of this band. 4 points
