Lions Share "Fall from grace" english summary

Das schwedische Quintett LIONS SHARE steht für progressiv beeinflussten melodic metal.

Zu Beginn gibts gleich ein Brett um die Ohren: Unholy rites ist grimmig, hart und erinnert stellenweise nicht zu Unrecht an Judas Priest. Edge of sanity spielt härte-technisch in der gleichen Liga, besitzt jedoch komplexere Riffs, einen melodischeren Refrain und summa summarum einen progressiveren Charakter. Nach den beiden herrlichen Brettern riecht das schwerfällige Fall from Grace ein wenig nach Black Sabbath mit Tony Martin, irgendwie ein nichtssagener Track. Mit Drowning gibts dann ein dramatisches Progmetal-Highlight der grimmigen Extraklasse. Die angenehm unkitschige Ballade Remembrance gewährt 5 stimmungsvolle Verschnauf-Minuten bevor mit The day the earth caught fire eine gelungene Progmetal-Coverversion des 1979er Songs zum Besten gegeben wird. Auch bei A hole of black stimmt das Gleichgewicht zwischen Metal, progressiven Elementen uind melodischen Einlagen. Den Ausklang mit dem Priest-Cover A touch of evil ist irgendwie überflüssig, denn LIONS SHARE bringen das Teil zwar tadellos rüber, aber sowohl Rob Halfords Stimme sowie die Keyboards kommen auf dem Original einfach besser.

Wer auf kräftigen Metal mit progressiven Anleihen steht, sollte LIONS SHARE auf jeden Fall mal antesten ! Wertung: 7

The new album "Fall from grace" by the swedish band LIONS SHARE is presenting heavy progressive metal. The two opening tracks Unholy rites and Edge of sanity are nearly as powerful as JUDAS PRIEST, but more melodic, especially Edge of sanity has much more progressive inclinations. The title track Fall from Grace sounds a bit like BLACK SABBATH (with Tony Martin) and is followed by the dramatic progmetal-smasher Drowning. A hole of black proofs, too, how good LIONS SHARE are at combining heaviness with melody and progressive elements. The album contains two cover versions: the great The day the earth caught fire and A touch of evil of JUDAS PRIEST. Altough A touch of evil is played very good, I miss the unique atmosphere of the original recording. But nethertheless: If you like heavy metal with melodic and progressive ingredients, you should check out this album. 7 points
