MANTRA SUNRISE ist eine kalifornische Artrock-Band.

Auf dem Programm steht meist melancholisch wabernder Artrock mit deutlichem Augenmerk auf warme Guitarrenakkorde. Die Stimme von Joel Bissing sorgt einige Male für ein leichtes Gothic-Feeling ... leider ist die Stimme aber alles andere als ausdrucksstark und der höheren Tonlage mächtig. Der Sound der Platte geht deutlich in die 70er Psychedelic-Rock-Ecke. Viele der Songs sind nicht abgestimmt genug, um ein rundes Bild zu ergeben. Da bringts dann leider auch nichts, wenn so ziemlich jeder Song seine starke Artrock-Phase hat. Somit sind die zwei kurzen Akustikgitarre-Tracks Brudenell, Your heart und Mantra sunset die Highlights des Albums.

Schade. Hier hat man viele sehr gute Ansätze verpuffen lassen. Psychedelic-wetterfeste Progfans sollten sich aber hiermit mal vertraut machen.

MANTRA SUNRISE is an artrock band from California. Their artrock is a mixture of psychedelic rock, some gothic atmopshere (by the vocals) and soft artrock. The positive aspect of this album are those warm and sensitive guitar chords appearing in most of the songs. The bad thing is that the vocals are not able to carry the songs and that the songs somehow don't get through. So it seems that this album is only suitable for artrock fans with a big love to psychedelic music.
