Oratory "Illusion dimensions" english summary

Nun ist ja Portugal nicht gerade das Mekka für Melodic Power Metal Fans, also können wir Oratory schon mal vorab einen Punkt extra aufgrund des Exoten-Bonus verpassen.

Die Band gibt es seit 1994, nach zwei Demos veröffentlichte man 1999 zunächst eine EP (einen Track daraus gibt es übrigens als Zugabe als Hidden Track auf "Illusion Dimension") und nun also das offizielle Debüt. Diese Form des Metal angereichert mit symphonischen Elementen hat man von Stratovarius und Co. zwar schon zur Genüge gehört, aber es gibt schon zumindest eine Besonderheit bei Oratory. Die Vocals in den einzelnen Trax teilen sich nämlich Marco Alvers und Ana Lara - und das kommt ja nunso häufig nicht vor. Beide erledigen ihren Job absolut zufriedenstellend, das gleiche gilt auch für den Rest der Combo. Die Songs sind durchweg eingängig, zwar ein wenig nach dem Muster "kennst du einen kennst du alle", aber so wird immerhin nichts vermasselt, zumal man auch immer mal ein sympathische Keyboardsolo einstreut.

Unterm Strich hat die Band eigentlich den zunächst erwähnten Exoten-Bonus gar nicht nötig. Wertung: 6

Portugal is not the home base of melodic power metal, so one bonus oint for beeing something very special in advance. The Band was formed in 1994 and has released the offical debut via LMP. OK, this music is not an innovation, but the songwriting is well done and especially the working with an female and male vocalist is not usual. All songs work from the same pattern, but they work and beside the typical guitar solos the band integrates often some good keyboard parts. At the end of the day they don't need an extra bonus point. 6 points
