Seit dem Alter von 8 Jahren spielt CHRIS STEBERL Gitarre. Mit seiner neusten CD "Reasons for a decade" legt Chris sein neustes Instrumental-Album vor.

Man merkt CHRIS STEBERL deutlich seine Einflüsse an: Tony McAlpine und Yngwie Malmsteen. Sein Gitarrenspiel ist frisch, gewandt und (was will man auch anderes erwarten) auf hohem technischen Niveau und ist erfolgreich um Abwechslung bemüht. Mit Nightmare on bald mountain gibt es einen grimmig-orientalischen Opener. Auf Trance mission weht atmosphärischer Tony McAlpine-Flair (ähnlich zu dessen "Edge of sanity"-Album) ... ein variantenreiches, melodiegeladenes und rundum stimmiges Gitarrenfeuerwerk mit einem bestechenden Guitar/Keyboard-Duell. Gediegen und mollig windet sich Neptune Island in den Gehörgang, bevor es mit Vivaldi's Summer Concerto von dessen 4 Jahreszeiten so richtig furios wird ... was ein Herr Malmsteen hier in Grund und Boden gedudelt hätte, bringt Chris Steberl souverän schnörkellos über die Bühne. Verträumt und mit cleanen Guitarsounds verbreitet Sahara skies beduinische Stimmung. Klassisch und fingerfertig wird's dann wieder mit Mozart's 25th symphony in Gm ... streckenweise zuviele hektische Schnörkel ... liegt aber mehr an Wolfgang-Amadeus als an Chris. Das butterweiche und vergnügte Silk'n'Honey bildet den Abschluss des Albums.

Ein abwechslungsreiches, mit bewunderswerter Ausgeglichenheit und Stimmigkeit dargebotenes Guitar-Instrumentalalbum, wenn man mal von dem stellenweise etwas hektischen Mozart's 25th symphony in Gm absieht. Chris Steberl weiß, wann man cleane Gitarrensounds verwenden muß und wann Brazzelsound von Nöten ist ... eine Gabe, die nicht viele haben. Den Namen Chris Stebler sollte man sich schon mal merken ! Wertung: 7

CHRIS STEBERL plays guitar since the age of 8 years. "Reasons for a decade" is his new instrumental guitar album. It's quite easy to realize, that Chris is influenced by Tony McAlpine and Yngwie Malmsteen. His guitar-playing is fresh, skillful and varied. Nightmare on bald moubtain is an evil Opener with some asian touch. Trance mission reminds me of Tony McAlpine on "Edge of sanity" ... a varied guitar-fireworks loaded with melodies and an astonishing guitar/keyboard race. Neptune Island is driftng soft and melancholic into your ears. Vivaldi's Summer Concerto is simply furious ! Malmsteen would have played this concerto to death ... Chris Steberl stays close to the original .... and wins ! Sahara skies shows another great attribute of this guitar-maniac: he is sensitive enough to use clean guitar sounds as well as powering sound ... contributing to the variety of this instrumental album. Mozart's 25th symphony in Gm is a bit too hectic for me, but overall: a very recommendable album ... not only for fans of instrumental metal guitar music. We should keep the name CHRIS STEBERL in mind. 7 points
