Project Masquerade "Promo 2000" english summary

PROJECT MASQUERADE ist ein HeavyMetal-Projekt aus den Niederlanden, initiiert von Noud Smeets.

Da die Band gerade keine CDs mehr hatte, reichten sie 3 Songs auf einem Tape ein. Into the night ist ein stimmungsvoller Metal-Track mit klarem Gesang und wohlstrukturiertem Aufbau, vielschichtiger Atmosphäre (von straight stampfend bis grimmig und dezent progressiv). Starke Nummer mit stimmigen Keyboard und toller Gitarrenarbeit ! Auch der Song Psywars besticht ... verhaltene Gitarren und interessante Gesangsmelodien, wenn auch die Höhe der Gesangslinien den Vocals beinahe zum Verhängnis wird. Dancer in the dark ist eher ausser Konkurrenz zu betrachten, da es ein instrumentaler Track aus dem Heimstudio von Noud Smeets ist und für die Instrumental-Fraktion nichts berauschend neues bietet.

Wenn das PROJECT MASQUERADE die Schiene der ersten beiden Songs beibehält, dann kann ich es kaum erwarten, eine Fulltime Studio-CD zu hören, denn vor allem Into the night ist mehr als nur vielversprechend ! Wertung: 6

PROJECT MASQUERADE is a heavy metal project from the Netherlands, driven by Noud Smeets. We have received a 3-track demo tape. Into the night is an atmospheric metal track featuring relatively clean vocals, varied structure ranging from straight poundering to decent progressive metal. Overall a great track with good keyboards and great guitarplaying. Psywars is very interesting, too, featuring tame guitars and good vocal melodies. Dancer in the dark is not that good .. but this maybe because of the fact that I don't like instrumental guitar metal tracks very much.
Overall: If PROJECT MASQUERADE continue their songwriting in the style of the Into the night and Psywars, then I'll look forward to their first fulltime studio CD !! 6 points
