Die Alben von STEVE JOLLIFFE, der schon mit Rick Davies, Klaus Schulze, Steamhammer, Edgar Froese, Chris Franke (Tangerine Dream) u.a. zusammengearbeitet hat, waren bislang meist nur schwer erhältlich. Das Siren Music Sublabel Apropos hat sich nun seiner Alben angenommen.

"Invitation" ist eine Einladung zur Musik von STEVE JOLLIFFE. Die CD enthält Songs aus 11 seiner Alben und umspannen einen Zeitraum von 1979 bis 1996. Es gibt weder Frickelprog, noch Melodic Prog, nein hier wird Chill-Out groß geschrieben. Steve zaubert ein ums andere Mal exotische "Einsame Insel"-Stimmung, streift aber auch während dreier Songs TANGERINE DREAM-Ländereien, klingt mit Captains of fate sogar einmal kurz nach Alan Parsons und verbreitet mit Wardance geheimnisvolle Atmosphäre a'la Soundtrack zu "The 7th Guest".

Toll gemachter atmosphärische Progressive Music, größtenteils instrumentaler Natur. Wer sich fallen lassen will und bei OLIVER WAKEMAN's "Heaven's isle" unverhofft eingeschlafen oder entnervt abgeschalten hat, sei zu STEVE JOLLIFFE's "Invitation" herzlich eingeladen ! Wertung: 7

STEVE JOLLIFFE has worked together with Rick Davies, Klaus Schulze, Steamhammer, Edgar Froese, Chris Franke (Tangerine Dream) and other musicians. His albums were very hard to get. Now Siren Music's label Apropos has taken care of Steve's albums. "Invitation" contains 12 tracks out of 11 of his albums. Steve's wizardry is athmospheric, progressive music, primarily instrumental and manages to create a beautiful chill out atmosphere painting pictures of lonely islands, sunsets and mysterious places. A very recommendable album for stressed souls and for those of you who fell asleep while listening to OLIVER WAKEMAN's boring and nerve tingling "Heaven's isle", like I did. 7 points
