Aus L.A. stammen THE CHAPTER. Der Mann hinter dieser Band ist Gitarrist Marc Espinoza, der seine Einflüsse bei Blackmore, Rhoads, Schenker und Malmsteen sieht.

Markenzeichen der Band sind schnelle Riffs im klassischen Hardrock-Gewand. Nicht selten kommen Rainbow-Einflüsse an den Tag ... was sich durch die knackige und crunchige Coverversion von "Tarot woman" bestätigt. Der Opener Underdog lässt leichten old-school-RAVEN-Flair wehen. True self revealed ist der mit Abstand reifste Song des Albums ... atmosphärisch, abwechslungsreich, charismatisch und rauhbeinig. Grey old day holzt und groovt schon fast in MOTORHEAD-Manier, wenn auch soundtechnisch nicht so brachial.

Gutes Gitarenspiel macht leider noch keinen Sommer. Die Songs sind zwar alle recht nett und erdig, der Kick fehlt jedoch. Erschwerend hinzu kommt, daß Grey old day und Underdog unangenehme Hektik verbreiten. Wertung: 3

THE CHAPTER are a rock-band from L.A. The man behind this band is Marc Espinoza (guitar) who is influenced by Blackmore, Rhoads, Schenker and Malmsteen. THE CHAPTER play rock with fast riffs, sometimes reminding of a mix of RAINBOW and RAVEN (Underdog). Grey old day rocks like MOTORHEAD, and with Tarot woman you get a Rainbow-cover. These three songs have very good guitar playing, but somehow they are too restless ... True self revealed is the best and most mature song of this EP ... grooving, varied, atmospheric and raw in one. Overall this is a good album for motorbikers and fans of fast groove rock. For proggers and metalheads THE CHAPTER is not a big recommendation. 3 points
