Timestorm "Shades of unconsciousness" english summary

TIMESTORM sind eine der neuen Kräfte im italienischen Progressive Powermetal-Underground. Die Band wurde im Frühling 1997 gegründet und legt mit "Shades of unconsciousness" ihr Debut vor.

Das Potential dieser Band ist wahrlich unverkennbar: schnelle Riffs, progressive Anleihen, ein Sänger, der einige Male an Michael Kiske erinnert, jedoch bei weitem nicht dessen Souveränität in hohen Regionen besitzt. Leider können auch die Kompositionen nicht im großen Stil überzeugen. Es fehlt an griffigen Elementen, der Gesang spannt keine Bögen und auch musikalisch fehlt etwas der rote Faden. Während so ziemlich aller Songs blitzen tolle Elemente auf ... sowohl progressiver, dramatischer als auch melodic-speedmetallischer Natur.

Ein vielversprechendes Debut, aber derzeit noch viel zu wenig, um in der derzeitigen Flut von erstklassigen Melodic-Speed/Powerprog-Releases mithalten zu können. Wertung: 3

TIMESTORM is a new power metal band, rising up from the Italian underground. The band was founded in Rome in the spring of 1997 by Fabrizio Troiano (lead guitar), Gianluca Maccarone (drums) and Marco Migliaccio (guitar, additional voice) led by the common desire to play modern power metal influenced by progressive elements. "Shades of unconsciousness" is their debut album. This band is pretty good ... fast riffs, progressive influences and a singer in the style of Michael Kiske, but with some weak points in higher tunes. All compositions contain great parts (progressive, melodic speedmetal, dramatic) but overall the vocal lines are not able to create big melodies and the music lacks of a consistent structure. A very promising debut but at the moment not good enough to be able to cope with the mass of above-average releases in this genre. 3 points
