To Die For "All Eternity" english summary

TO DIE FOR sind in der finnischen Gothic Szene immerhin schon seit fünf Jahren aktiv - und das vor allem Live. Ihr Debüt hat sich in ihrer Heimat mittlerweile immerhin 8000 mal verkauft und kommt jetzt über Nuclear Blast auch hierzulande in die Plattenläden. Und spätestens seit HIM stehen ja die Chancen für Goth'n'Roll (ich glaube, das nennt man jetzt so) gar nicht schlecht.

Und der Vergleich mit HIM ist wirklich nicht so weit hergeholt. Auch TO DIE FOR verfahren nach dem gleichen Prinzip: Man agiert zwar alles andere als innovativ, hat aber ein absolut sicheres Gespür für eingängige Melodien innerhalb der Genregrenzen. Egal ob schneller oder schleppend, die Gitarren sorgen für Härte, Keyboards und Gesang für den gothic-typischen Düsterflair. Das Songwriting steht dem von HIM in nichts nach, bleibt die Frage, ob auch TO DIE FOR einen ähnlich charismatischen Frontmann vorweisen können wie HIM mit Ville Valo. Entsprechende Videos jedenfalls sind bereits produziert. Eine weitere Parallele übrigens: Genau wie HIM setzen auch TO DIE FOR zunächst auf eine Coverversion als Single. Auch wenn die im Original von Sandra stammt (“In The Heat Of The Night“) kann ich euch beruhigen, it works.

Ein Album, das von vorn bis hinten sauber durchläuft und auch wenn ich nicht dran glaube, wenn es so was wie Gerechtigkeit in dem Geschäft gibt, dürften TO DIE FOR eigentlich nicht viel schlechter durchs Ziel gehen als HIM. Wertung: 6

TO DIE FOR are on the road in Finland for about five years and they sold in their native country about 8000 copies from their debut. Now this will be released via Nuclear Blast and I hope it will work. TO DIE FOR are very similar with HIM - the same musical direction, no experiments but a very good songwriting inside the boundaries of the genre. I think, the success of TO DIE For will depend on the charisma of the lead vocalist, and TO DIE FOR has allready produced two videos so let's wait and check them out. From the pure musically side is „All Eternity“ an really good debut, perhaps it becomes more. 6 points
