Anvil "Plenty of Power" english summary

"Plenty of power" ist das bereits elfte Album der kanadischen Metal-Ikone ANVIL.

Im Stile des alten Ambossalbums "Metal on Metal" bolzen ANVIL auf knapp 45 Minuten durch die Boxen. In Zeiten von poliertem Hollywoodmetal dürfte "Plenty of power" kaum jemanden vom Hocker reissen, der auf Metal mit griffigen Melodien steht. ANVIL stehen klar zu ihren Trademarks und diese sind kompromissloser Metal, rauh, heftig und unpoliert. Wäre ja nichts dagegen einzuwenden ... wenn das Ganze zumindest einen Hauch von Flair erzeugen würde. Stattdessen holzt man Song um Song auf die volle 12, ohne Hooks und Aha-Effekte. Diese blitzen zwar einige Male auf (vor allem wenn sich ANVIL während dreier Passagen verdammt deutlich an BLACK SABBATH anlehnen), gehen aber sofort in Belanglosigkeit wieder unter.

Nur für ANVIL-Fans und Die-Hard-Metaller eine Empfehlung. Wertung: 1

"Plenty of power" is the 11th release of canadian powermetalheads ANVIL. The album is very similar to their "Metal on metal"-album but in times of polished hollywood metal this release will not be able to convince many people, especially those loving big melodies. ANVIL stick to their trademarks and that's raw metal. I don't have a problem with raw metal .. as long there is some atmosphere no matter wether it's epic or agressive. ANVIL fail in that mission. 12 tracks without hooks and "hey what's that"-moments. Only recommendable for fans of ANVIL ... and even they don't get anything new. 1 points
