BLUEBERRYHILL wurden 1997 als NIGHTFALL gegründet. Man coverte damals noch zumeist MERCYFUL FATE und KING DIAMOND. Da der Band-Name schon vergeben war, benannte man sich flux um in ISENGARD ... und schon verlautete aus der Blackmetal-Ecke, daß auch dieser Name nicht mehr zu haben ist. Die Band war es dann scheinbar leid, metalische Bandnamen in Erwägung zu ziehen und entschied sich für BLUEBERRYHILL.

Musikalisch gibts bei den Finnen altbackenen Metal, bei dem man EInflüsse von VIRGIN STEEL (insbes. während der Tracks House of sleep, Walls of injustice) und BLIND GUARDIAN (Pathos/Lacrimac Mundi, toller folkdurchsetzter Powermetal-Track) heraushören kann, also alles in Allem orchestralen Power/Speedmetal, während des Songs Final hour sogar mit leichten Gothic-Anleihen. Soundtechnisch gibts hier leicht überdurchschnitlichen Demosound, aber das macht nix, denn:

... denn BLUEBERRYHILL haben streckenweise großartige Kompositionen im Gepäck. Die Band sollte die Songs Pathos/Lacrimac Mundi, Walls of injustice nochmal neu einspielen, mit fetten Gesängen und gutem Sound versehen und sich dann an Labels wenden. Eine absolut vielversprechende Band !

| Summary |
BLUEBERRYHILL are a young metal band from Finland. Originally their name was NIGHTFALL as they were founded in Kuortane/Finland in 1997. The started as cover band, primarily doing KING DIAMOND/MERCYFUL FATE covers. As the name NIGHTFALL was already used by another band, they switched their name to ISENGARD. After hearing that this name already was used by a black metal band, the guys were sick of changing their name and chose a none-typical metalband-name ... BLUEBERRYHILL.
The music of BLUEBERRYHILL could best be described as well done "nothing new"-metal ... this sounds a bit negative, but it is not meant this way. BLUEBERRY show great influences from VIRGIN STEEL (on House of sleep, Walls of injustice), BLIND GUARDIAN (during the great folk-influenced powermetal track Pathos/Lacrimac Mundi), orchestral powermetal (Walls of injustice) and gothic-influenced symphonic metal (Final hour).
The sound of this release is typical demo sound, but that's not a problem at all. The band has asked for our opinion and here it is: BLUEBERRYHILL has great compositions to offer for the metal community. I would recommend to take songs like Pathos,Lacrimac Mundi, Walls of Injustice, re-record and rerelease them as dedicated label demo with strong choirs, stronger and more precisely sung vocals and big fat sound. I'm sure, that these six guys from Finland will then get the attention they deserve as they are a very promising newcomer band !
