Brainstorm "Earth Zero" english summary

BRAINSTORM aus Australien melden sich zurück.

Wie auch auf ihrem Vorgängeralbum "Tales of the future" klingen BRAINSTORM trotz der perfekten Sounds gewaltig nach End-70er Jahre Rock'n'Prog. BRAINSTORM's neuer Output schimpft sich "Earth Zero" und beinhaltet Songs aus 13 Jahren Bandgeschichte. Vertreten sind witzige und vergnügte Songs wie das supernette Freeway, nachdenkliche Prog-Balladen wie z.B. Vandal's Hymn (klingt wie eine Mischung aus AYREON und NAZARETH) oder Stasis, freakige Roadmovie-Tracks wie z.B. Slow train of the lie und 70er-Paradetracks wie Triplanetary und Tyranny. Nicht zünden können das leicht holprige No-one knows sowie das gesanglich nicht überragende Back home on terra.
Was BRAINSTORM aber mit dem fünfteiligen 20-Minüter Armageddon auf die Beine gestellt haben ist schlichtweg genial: spröder brummeliger Gitarresound, relaxter Groove, heimelige Keyboards, langgezogene Gitarre, Prog meets 70ies-Rock meets Psychedelic. Ein Opus wie geschaffen für die Verehrer von 70er ELOY-Alben wie "Oceans".

Gute Kost für Fans von ruhigem, unverbraucht klingendem 70er Rock mit progressiven Anleihen. Punktabzug gibts für die nicht überzeugenden Vocals. Wertung: 6

BRAINSTORM from Australia are back. The album comes in good sound and again sounds more like a end-70ies release than a release of nowadays. BRAINSTORM's new output is entitled "Earth Zero" and contains songs out of 13 years band-history. You get funny songs like the really nice Freeway, thoughtful prog ballads like Vandal's Hymn (sounds like a mixture of AYREON and NAZARETH), freakin' Roadmovie-Tracks (Slow train of the lie and 70ies-rockers like Triplanetary and Tyranny. Two tracks are not convincing: No-one knows and Back home to terra.
But the 20 minute Armageddon is simply brilliant .... dry guitar sound, relaxed groove, spacy keyboards, long guitar tunes, prog meets 70ies rock meets psychedelic. If you like albums like ELOY's "Oceans" you will love this track.
Again, BRAINSTORM have created an album which is highly suitable for fans of calm 70ies rock with progressive inclinations. As the vocals are not good enough I have to subtract one point from the end vote. 6 points
