Cafeine "Nouveaux Mondes" english summary

Leider ohne jegliche Bandinfo und ohne CD-Booklet ereicht uns eine CD aus Frankreich.

Eigentlich schade, denn was die Franzosen CAFEINE hier auftischen, kann sich mehr als sehen lassen. Instrumental-Progrock vom Feinsten. Gesungen wird eigentlich nur zu 15 % ... und von diesen 5 % sind 80% nicht besonders berauschend. Nicht weil's französisch ist, sondern weil der Gesang wieder einmal 0815-Leicht-daneben Prog-Underground-Gesang ist ... schon komisch, daß es meist Progbands sind, die kein Gespür für ihre eigenen Vocals haben ... naja, egal. Die Instrumentalparts der Scheibe haben sich gewaschen. Nicht weil gefrickelt wird, nein ... weil man Raum lässt für Bilder und Stimmungen. Einige Male entwickeln CAFEINE eine Theatralik ähnlich zur französischen Kult-Progcombo ANGE. Soundtechnisch lässt die Platte einiges zu wünschen übrig ... Klangmatsch ohne Farbe. Aber zum Glück stimmen ja die Harmonien und auch die Ideen, wie z.B. gewitzte Gesangseinlagen.

Mal wieder ein rundum zufriedenstellender Prog-Release aus Frankreich. Kompositorisch gibts 7 Punkte, für die Umsetzung 4 ... einigen wir uns auf 6 Punkte. Wertung: 6

French band CAFEINE plays (mainly instrumental) progrock. During 15% of the album there are vocals. Unfortunately the main vocals are average-prog-default and not very percisely. But there are other vocals as well: especially the few female atmospheric additions create a haunting warm ambience. If you take the instrumental parts, this album is very good because it leaves room for air and feelings. That's pure progrock with decent atmosphere. During some parts CAFEINE come close to ANGE in terms of dramatic elements. The compositions of CAFEINE are very good and would deserve 7 points. As the compositions are not performed that great, my overall statement is: Good album ! 6 points
