Lange Zeit war's still um den Ex DREAMSCAPE-Sänger Hubi Meisel. Nachdem er SCENES verlassen hat, widmete er sich im Stillen einem lang gehegten Traum ... der eigenen Interpretation von Pop-Hits aus den 80ern.

Nach einigen Streitigkeiten mit diversen Verwertungsgesellschaften haben es immerhin noch sieben Songs auf das Album geschafft. Wer Hubi Meisel's Stimme (z.B. von DREAMSCAPE oder SCENES) kennt, weiß was er zu erwarten hat: emotionale, melodische Vocals, die auch mal einen Zacken zulegen können.
"Cut" ist ein hervorragendes Album geworden, denn Hubi hat es geschaft, den teilweise doch sehr statischen Popflair mancher Songs in melodische Metal- (ja teilweise sogar leicht Progmetal-)Gefilde zu überführen, was einerseits durch Hubi's markante Gesangsarrangements, andererseits durch das dynamische und äußerst interessante Gitarrenspiel von Marcel Coenen erreicht wird. Es ist eientlich alles dabei ... straighter Melodic Metal (Just died in your arms tonight), verzweifelt bis bissiger Gesang (Send my an angel), kraftvolle Nummern (z.B. Relax) sowie eine tolle Vertonung der AHA-Hymne The sun always shines on TV. Im Gegensatz zu der Flut an seelenlos heruntergerotzten Coverversionen (nicht nur aus der Metalecke, sondern auch aus dem Punk/Nu-Metal-Kindergarten) hat es HUBI MEISEL geschafft, seinen unverkannbaren Stil in die Songs zu hauchen, diese aufzupeppen, jedoch den Flair ihrer Rhythmik und Melodien nicht zu zerstören.

Ein Klassealbum, das man wohl noch ewig hören kann, spätestens bis zu dem day, when music dies.

It was silent around ex Dreamscape vocalist Hubi Meisel for quite a long time. After leaving the german progmetal hope SCENES Hubi decided to deal with a dream ... and this
dream was to record an album with own interpretation of hits of the 80ies. After some legal discussions a few songs had to be removed from the album, but seven songs remained.
Those of you familiar with Hubi's voice from his time at the sympathic german progmetalheads DREAMSCAPE know what to expect from this voice: emotional, melodic
vocals which can get quite loud and metallian if they want to. What can I say about this album ... Hubi has stripped the soft and undynamic pop flair off the songs and replaced the pop flair with his emotional metal vocals and melodic metal. The great and dynamic guitar playing of Marcel Coenen even adds some progressive touch. No matter if you listen to the melodic cover of Cutting Crew's Just died in your arms tonight, the angry and screaming cover of Send me an angel, the powerful Relax, the everlasting AHA-hymn The sun always shines on TV or Red sector A ... Hubi has created
a honest, self-confident and unique cover album which features the charming memories of these great pop-tracks, enriched with the unique flavour of Hubi's interpretation. I'll enjoy listening to this album until the day when music dies !
