Flitzefinger JOHN JAUNESE ist zwar ein ziemlich ruheloser Finger, denn er düdelt die ganze Zeit, schafft es aber, den Grundmelodien der Stücke harmonisch zur Seite zu stehen. Auf dieser Demonstrations-CD zieht der gute John alle Register seines Könnens ... während des Openers Mindstorm gelingt ihm das in atemberaubender Manier, wobei der Song auch noch hörbar bleibt. Speed demon ist ein aus dem Kontext gerissener Track ohne Flair. Speed of sound ist für meinen Geschmack zu schnell, während Almost Joe gute Blueselemente enthält und Cast of strings diese Kurzpräsentation sanft und melodisch feinfühlig beendet, leider abrupt und lieblos ausgefadet wird.
| Fazit |
Wer's gerne flitzefingerig, hart, schnell und instrumentell haben will, sollte sich mit JOHN JAUNESE einmal vertraut machen. Mir ist das Ganze einen Tick zu übertrieben. Meine Instrumental-Metalguitar-Lieblinge bleiben VINNIE MOORE's "Minds Eye", TONY McALPINE's "Edge of insanity" und MARTY FRIEDMAN's "Dragon's kiss".

"The fastest guitar on earth" is the title of an EP of JOHN JAUNESE. You think this is fast and instrumental metal ? Yep, you're right ! John's fingers are really fast. This EP is a demonstration of his technical skills. The opener Mindstorm is damn fine ... fast guitar playing with a continous main theme. Speed demon seems to be ripped out of it's context and so is not able to show its' soul. Speed of sound is too fast for my taste but Almost Joe is a fine bluesy track. Cast of strings ends the album with sensitive and melodic soft chords ... unfortunately it is faded out so surprisingly that it hurts.
If you like it fast on the e-guitar instrumental metal area, JOHN JAUNESE is your man. For my taste this EP is much too fast and is far away from my instrumental favourites VINNIE MOORE's "Minds Eye", TONY McALPINE's "Edge of insanity" and MARTY FRIEDMAN's "Dragon's kiss".
