Lane Lane & Erik Norlander "European Tour Souvenir CD" english summary

LANA LANE und ERIK NORLANDER haben anlässlich ihrer EuropaTour 2001 eine Souvenier-CD veröffentlicht.

Die meisten LANE/NORLANDER-Fans unter Euch dürften das Songmaterial dieser CD nicht durchgehend kennen, denn viele der Tracks waren nur auf japanischen Releases enthalten.

Bei der Astrology suite wurden Intro, Schlusstrack und Titletrack der LANA LANE CD "Secrets of astrology" aneinander gehängt. Nach wie vor 3 geile Tracks !
Rome is burning von ERIK NORLANDER's Album "Into the sunset" bietet einen gut aufgelegten Glenn Hughes am Mikro, ist mir jedoch zu schwülstig ausgefallen.
Mit Seasons End folgt eine Live-Aufnahme aus Japan, bestehend aus Lana Lane an den Vocals und Erik Norlander an den Keyboards ... eine rundum überzeugendes Marillion-Cover. Ebenfalls rundum gelungen und ein Livemitschnitt aus dem Club Quattro in Tokyo: In the court of the crimson king, in das ein Zitat von Edvard Griegs "Halle des Bergkönigs" eingearbeitet wurde.
Bislang unveröffentlicht: Ein Live-Mitschnitt der ROCKET SCIENTISTS, die den Erik Norlander Song Fly zum Besten geben ... mit Lana Lane an den Vocals. Gut, aber nicht 100%ig überzeugend.
Der nächste ROCKET SCIENTISTS Live-Track beinhaltet ein fulminantes Cover des PINK FLOYD Klassikers In the flesh sowie den bandeigenen Track Oblivion days. Stampfender Melodic Progrock vom Feinsten !
Es folgt ein bestechendes Chapman-Stick-Instrumental von Don Schiff (Inspirations on life) ... ein melodisches sowie technisches Meisterstück.
Den Abschluss der Souvenier-CD bildet Alchemy and Astronomy ... ein atmosphärischer (mir etwas zu langatmiger) Space-Jam-Track, der zuvor nur als Bonustrack auf der japanischen Version des Norlander-Albums "Into the sunset" enthalten war.

Alles-Sammler bekommen mit dieser Souvenier-CD eine Komplettierung ihrer LANE/NORLANDER-Sammlung. Neulinge erhalten einen tollen und breitgefächerten Überblick über das musikalische Schaffen von LANA LANE und ERIK NORLANDER. Besitzer der entsprechenden Studioalben müssen selbst entscheiden, ob sie diese Investion tätigen wollen oder nicht.

ERIK NORLANDER and LANA LANE have released a souvenier CD for their european tour 2001. The album contains rare tracks, that mostly were featured on japanese releases. I will shortly list all tracks ... you must decide wether you need this CD or not.
Astrology suite is a medley of the intro, closing track and title track of LANA LANE's album "Secrets of astrology". Still a great track !
Rome is burning is taken from ERIK NORLANDER's album "Into the sunset", featuring Glenn Hughes on vocals ... sounds a bit too melodic for me.
Seasons end (live in Japan) is a great cover version of the MARILLION track with the same name with Lana on vocals and Erik on keyboards. Great !
Again recorded live in Japan is In the court of the crimson king, with Lana on the vocals ... a great track, too.
Next is the ROCKET SCIENTISTS band live ... with the Erik Norlander track Fly ... ok, but not that good.
Another ROCKET SCIENTISTS live track features a cover of PINK FLOYD's In the flesh and the ROCKET-track Oblivion days. Fine pondering melodic rock.
Then it's DON SCHIFF's turn, playing a 5 minute chapman stick instnrumental with lots of classic, groove and jazz.
The last track is Alchemy and astronomy, an atmospheric space jam track (taken from the japanese version of Lana's "Secrets of astrology") ... 17 minutes are a bit too long for this song.

If you are a normal fan of Lana Lane and Erik Norlander, you will not necessarily need this album. Collectors get some rare track with this CD , newbies get a great and varied overview on Lana Lane and Erik Norlander.
