Michael Harris "Sketches from the thought chamber" english summary

Ist das jetzt instrumenteller Progmetal oder einfach nur ein weiteres Instrumental-Guitar-Wizard-Album ? Ich tendiere zu Ersterem.

Der gute Mike Harris ist für mich einer der konstantesten und besten Guitar-Wizards, denn seine Instrumental-Alben haben Klasse und stilistische Vielfalt. Der Opener Prognosis reicht mir eigentlich schon als Beweis, daß diese Platte wieder einmal gute Kost bietet: trockene Riffs, progmetallische Riff-Stakkati, sphärische Keyboards, experimentierfreudige Keyboard-Sounds, neoklassische Guitarläufe, softe Fusion-Guitar kontra metallische Härte. Extraklasse !
Gruselig wirds mit Neuro-Transmitter einem verdammt schrägen Track, der einige Male mit hohen Keyboard-Synthies und Sound-Effekten spannende Stimmung heraufbeschwört. Weitere herausragende Tracks sind: Two worlds beyond (hier trifft ein kosmischer Keyboard-Chor auf eine belebend swingende Melodie), der imposante 6-Minuten-Trip ins eigene Ich Voyage to Xyrethius, der wahnwitzige und durchgeknallte Nylon-Fingerpicker Madfingers, das melodisch groovende Eat your words (hätte Vinnie Moore zu seinen besten Zeiten nicht besser hinbekommen) sowie das episch-düstere und nicht minder traurige A soul's torment.

Wie immer gibts bei Michael Harris tollen instrumentellen E-Guitar-Progmetal mit gewaltigen Einflüssen aus Jazz, Fusion, Neoklassik und traditionellem E-Guitar-Instrumental-Flair. Wertung: 7

MICHAEL HARRIS is one of the most constant and best guitar wizards I know, cause his instrumental albums show style and variety. The opener Prognosis says it all: shaking riffs, progmetal-influences, spheric keyboards, unusual keyboard-effects, neoclassic melodies, soft fusion/jazz-guitar-playing versus metal ... Great ! But that's just one side of this album. With Neuro-Transmitter you get a weird and spooky track, the swingin' Two world beyond, the nylon-fingerpicking-twister Madfingers and the melodic groovin' Eat your words (sounds like VINNIE MOORE at his best times) and the epic-dark'n'sad A soul's torment you get everything what an instrumental guitar-wizardry-album needs ... variety, entertaining changes and depth.
Again, Michael Harris shows that e-guitar-wizardry can create great songs instead of technical showcases. 7 points
