Aus der aufgelösten Band NO RULES gingen 1996 ORDALIA hervor. Nach 4 Jahren erscheint das erste Album "Return of the king". Klingt nach Rainbow ? Jepp, genau auf diese Parallele weist die Bandinfo hin.

ORDEILIA versuchen sich redlich im Stile von Bands wie WARLORD, RAINBOW und BLACK SABBATH ... echte Parallelen sind jedoch nicht auszumachen. Der Sound ist trashig (ist nicht negativ gemeint), die Songs haben oftmals knackige und gute Passagen. Während 80% der Zeit tritt die Band jedoch auf der Stelle und schafft es nicht, musikalische Bögen zu spannen. Die Band versucht zwar immmer wieder, bestimmte Stimmungen heraufzubeschwören, doch weder die Vocals noch die holperige Instrumentalarbeit schaffen es, dieses Ziel zu erreichen.

Fans von trashigem, old-school-Metal mit komplexen Einschüben könnten hieran evtl. Gefallen finden. Mir fehlt hier einfach der rote Faden.

The italian metalband ORDALIA emerged from the ashes of NO RULES in 1996. 4 years later they have released their first album "Return of the king". ORDELIA try hard (too hard) to sound like WARLORD, RAINBOW and BLACK SABBATH ... but they don't reach the atmosphere of these bands. The sound is raw (this is not criticism) and the songs do all have crunchy parts. But during 80% of the playing time the music stands still and does not develop. ORDELIA should try to create spanning melodies and themes in their songs ... this release sounds incomplete and stuck in the middle of somewhere. Diehard fans of oldschool 80ies metal (with some trash-influences) can check out this band, if they like to.
