Spock's Beard "All on a sunday" english summary

Rechzeitig zur Deutschland-Tour im Juni 2001 erscheint mit "All on sunday" die erste Single aus dem Album "V".

Für beinharte SPOCK'S BEARD-Fans dürfte der Titeltrack der Single nicht von besonderem Interesse sein, denn wer das Album "V" im Regal stehen hat, kennt den Song All on a Sunday ja bereits. Für diese Single haben die 5 Mannen um Mastermind Neil Morse den Song komplett neu aufgenommen. Die Nummer ist kürzer und poppiger ... ganz nett, aber nichts weltbewegend Neues.
Mit The truth ist ein neuer Song am Start. Wer auf die Alben "The light" und "Beware of darkness" stand, danach jedoch den Faden zu den immer poppiger werdenden Alben verlor, wird auch mit diesem Track seine Probleme haben, insbesondere was das Alternative-Rock-mäßige Drumming angeht. Als Schmankerl für die die SPOCK'S BEARD-Sammler unter Euch gibts als CD-ROM-Track das Video zu All on a Sunday.

Nicht, daß ich der Ausnahmeband SPOCK'S BEARD den Erfolg in den Charts nicht gönnen würde ... aber für mich bleiben die ersten beiden Alben halt nun einmal DER Maßstab und von dieser Messlatte sind SPOCK'S BEARD meilenweit entfernt. Naja so ist das eben, wenn sich eine Band weiterentwickelt ... man verliert einige alte Fans auf seinem Weg, gewinnt dafür aber auch wieder neue. Ich zähle mich mich zu den ersteren. Wertung: 4

Die-hard SPOCK'S BEARD fans won't be interested in this single as they know the song All on a sunday from the album "V". On this single the song has been popped up a bit in order to give it better chart-chances. Nice but who needs it ? Me not !
The second track of the single is The truth, which is a new song. If you love the BEARD albums "The light" and "Beware of darkness" and had problems with all later releases, you will have a problem with this track, too , especially regarding the alternative rock-style drumming. The bonus track contains the video of All on a sunday.

It's great to see SPOCK'S BEARD in the charts ... but what has this to do with the great music they have given us with tracks like The light or The doorway ? Nothing I suppose. 4 points
