DJAM KARET-Fans aufgepasst ! Gayle Ellett is mit einem Nebenprojekt am Start. Der Name des Kindes: THE MASKIT CHAMBER.

Während Gayle Ellett auf "Heaven machine" noch verstärkt auf rhyhtmische Untermalung setzte, fährt er auf "The 4th wave" fast auschließlich analoge Soundbilder auf, die schon fast an die frühen 70er-Aufnahmen von Anthony Phillips - angereichert mit einem Schuss Ambient und Soundtrack-Feeling - erinnern. Flöte, Keyboards, Synthi, Feldaufnahmen, loops, morhps und herrlich spärlich-eingesetzte Akustikgitarre zaubern eine malerische, 50-minütige Landschaft vors geistige Auge, der man sich schon nach 5 Minuten nicht mehr entziehen kann. Ellet versteht es gekonnt, der Landschaft immer einen neuen Tupfer hinzuzufügen, ohne durch Wiederholungen zu überlasten oder durch neue Tupfer die Einheit aus dem Gleichgewicht zu bringen. Man mag die Scheibe minimalistisch nennen, sie wirkt jedoch wahre Wunder ... weniger ist eben oftmals mehr.

Da auch diese CD auf 250 Stück limitiert ist, empfiehlt sich der Doppelpack mit "Heaven machine". Wertung: 8

This is a CD for DJAM KARET fans. Gayle Ellet is the man behind THE MASKIT CHAMBER. On "Heaven machine" Gayle used rhythm-instruments. On this album, "The 4th wave", you primarily get anolog sound-structures reminding me of early recodings of Anthony Philipps, especially when the acoustic guitar appears to fondle your soul. Flute, keyboards, synthesizer, field recordings, loops, morphs and acoustic guitar create a beautiful, relaxing 50-minute landscape to dive into. Gayle Ellet does a great job in adding small (but new) faces to the landscape all the time, without getting stuck in repitions or annoying with breaks. As this CD is limited to 50 copies, too, you should gt it together with "The heaven machine". 8 points
