Der 1978 geborene Schwede Mattias Holmgren begann als Drummer in diversen Metalbands. Im Jahr 2000 entschloss er sich, unter dem Namen TIRED TREE ein paar Progrock / Westcoast-Rock Stücke zu komponieren und aufzunehmen.

Normalerweise sind Underground-Heimproduktionen vom Sound her nicht gerade berauschend. Was der gute Mattias Holmgren hier vollbracht steht einer professionellen Studioproduktion in nichts nach. Kommen wir zum zweiten Vorurteil ... daß man auf Soloalben auf Biegen und Brechen alle Instrumente selbst spielt und natürlich auch noch singt. Dies ist auch bei Matthias der Fall ... er beherrscht alles, lässt die Songs atmen und sich entfalten. Toller (oftmals mehrstimmiger) Gesang, sanftmütige Keyboards, einfühlsames Gitarrenspiel und stimmige Harmonie von Bass und Drums. Mattias Holmgren zeigt, daß nicht nur alle Instrumente spielen kann, sondern diese auch in Form von schönen Songs unter einen Hut bekommt. Und so kommt es, daß die vorliegenden 30 Minuten mit melodischen Neoprogressive Rock der Marke LIKE WENDY, AVIEN (ex DIONYSOS) und entspannendem Ambient Rock (der Machart iO oder LATE SEPTEMBER GODS) nur so verfliegen.

Daß diese Scheibe noch eine Demo ist, ist eine glatte Frechheit. Labels, aufgepasst. TIRED TREE's Debut-Demo ist ein sanftes Prog-Juwel, daß nur darauf wartet, gepflückt zu werden ... es ist noch nicht einmal ein Remastering notwendig. Wertung: 8

MATTIAS HOLMGREN was born in Sweden 1978. He played the drums in several metalbands and now has decided to record a progrock/westcoast-rock album on his own under the name TIRED TREE. He composed, performed and recorded this demo in his home studio. Normally such home-studio-one-man-shows are a waste of time ... this one isn't ! MATTIAS seems to be able to play everything .... drums, keyboards, bass and guitar. Yes, now you're thinking of bad vocals ... no way ! MATTIAS's voice is clear, comfortable and follows great and gentle melodies. What you get on this demo are 30 minutes of fine melodic neoprogressive rock in the style of LIKE WENDY, AVIEN (ex DIONYSOS) and melodic ambient rock in the style of iO or LATE SEPTEMBER DOGS. I can't understand why this demo is still a demo. TIRED TREE's debut demo comes in great sound and is a prog jewel screaming for being picked by a label ! Great stuff ! 8 points
