V.A. "The Spirit Of The Black Rose" english summary

Phil Lynott hat als viel zu früh verstorbener Kopf von Thin Lizzy definitiv jeglichen Tribut verdient - so geht dann dieses Album auch voll in Ordnung. Zwei CD's randvoll mit Musik, und wenn zu Beginn der ersten CD die Mutter von Phil Lynnott zu Wort kommt, dann kriegt man schon eine Gänsehaut. Unter den vertretenen Bands findet man sowohl etablierte Acts wie Sinner, Primal Fear oder auch Tribe Of Gipsys, daneben sind natürlich etliche Record Heaven Bands mit von der Partie wie Lotus, die Southern Rock Allstars, Kurgan's Bane oder Vick LeCar, den restlichen Teil liefern Bands, die hierzulande noch weitesgehend unbekannt sein dürften (zum Teil wohl Thin Lizzy Coverbands). Wie üblich bei solchen Projekten halten sich die Künstler mal mehr und mal weniger an das Original, ein bloßes Nachspielen jedenfalls war nie der Anspruch dieser Zusammenstellung. Mit wieviel Liebe man bei der Sache war, belegt auch das Artwork - das war nämlich ursprünglich für das 1983 - Thin Lizzy - Studioalbum "Thunder & Lightning" vorgesehen. Ein Teil des Erlöses dieser Doppel-CD geht an den Roisin Dubh Trust Fund, eine Stiftung, die Geld für eine Phil Lynnot - Statue in Dublin sammelt.

Even if there are many Thin Lizzy tribute albums around, I think this is a special one. This begins with the introduction, spoken by Phil Lynott's other and ends with the artwork, that was original created for an Thin Lizzy studio album. For the music it was never the intention of Record Heavaen only to copy Thin Lizzy but much more to encourage the creativity and artistical freedom of the involved artists. These are of course a lot of Record Heaven bands (Kurgan's Bane, Vick LeCar, Southern Rock Allstars) but also more established acts like Sinner, Primal Fear or Tribe Of Gypsys and completely unknown bands, many of them probably Thin Lizzy cover bands. A part the earnigs of this project will be used to support the Roisin Dubh Trust Fund, with the aim to get enough money for a Phill Lynnot statue in Dublin. 7 points
