Jeweils drei Demo-Aufnahmen zweier Bands enthält diese CD, die wir aus Italien bekommen haben.

Die ersten drei Tracks stammen von der ProgPowermetal-Formation WOUNDED KNEE, die 1994 als Coverband gegründet wurde. Das neueste Album der Band
hört auf den Namen "Heyoke". Musikalisch fahren WOUNDED KNEE powermetallischen Progmetal mit leichten Folk-Anleihen auf. Der Opener Come in/Curley bietet prügelnde Doublebassdrum, tolle Guitarsoli und verorgelte Keyboards. Perceptions of Reality müht sich redlich um progmetallische Riffs, kann aber gesanglich in keinster Weise überzeugen. Das Heavy-Prog-Instrumental Apology dagegen ist wieder glänzend gelungen.
Die letzten drei Tracks stammen von EQUISETI, einem WOUNDED KNEE-Seitenarm. EQUISETI gehen um einiges sanfter und melodischer ans Werk als WOUNDED KNEE,
denn die Härte des Sounds entspricht melodischem Rock. Crystal square ist der melodischste Track der CD und ein vielschichtiger noch dazu. Auch Nerone zeigt, daß man es in Italien noch nicht verlernt hat, anspruchsvollen Rock zwischen 70ies Rock, 90ies Prog und Italo-Rock zu machen. Das Instrumental Wind of freedom ist ebenfalls nicht vom schlechten Eltern.
| Fazit |
WOUNDED KNEE sprechen eher die Progmetal-Fraktion an, während EQUISETI eher im Progrock-Genre neue Freunde finden werden. Beide Bands haben spürbares Potential ... musikalisch gilt es noch einige wenige Ungereimtheiten auszumerzen. Der Daumen geht bei beiden Bands aber dennoch hoffnungsvoll nach oben.

| Summary |
We received a CD containing each three tracks of two italian bands. The first three tracks are from a progressive powermetal band called WOUNDED KNEE (founded in 1994 as coverband). WOUNDED KNEE play powerful progmetal with some folk influences. The opener Come in/Curley offers hammering doublebassdrum, great guitar soli and good keyboards. Perceptions of reality tries to build up good progmetal riffs but fails concerning the vocals. The third track, Apology is a heavy prog instrumental and is done very well.
The next three tracks are from EQUISETI, a sidearm project of WOUNDED KNEE. EQUISETI's music is soft and mor melodic. The heaviness of the sound can be compared to typical melodic rock releases. Crystal square is the most melodic track of the CD and a very melodic one. Nerone shows that italians still are able to compose sophisticated music in the style of 70ies rock, 90ies prog and italo-rock.
WOUNDED KNEE address the progmetal area, EQUISETI addres the the progrock genre. Both bands seem to have a good future. Concerning the music some few things have to be polished out but both thumbs go up for both bands.
