Der Exilgrieche ;-) hat zusammen mit Freunden und Musikerkollegen eine wohlbalancierte CD namens "Down in manh" aufgenommen. Fritz zeichnt für den Gesang, die Drums sowie den Großteil der Kompositionen verantwortlich
.
Obwohl das Album weder mit Metal noch mit Progrock was am Hut hat, konnte ich der Scheibe etliche schöne Momente abgewinnen, denn der Sound ist - selbstredend - top, die Musik ist abwechslungsreich, die Musiker erfahren und die Stimmung des Albums kann nur als lebensfroh bezeichnet werden, denn es wird durchzogen von freundlichen bis bluesigen Arrangements, quirligen Rhythmen und einer Vielzahl von Stilen. Die ersten beiden Highlights gibts gleich zu Beginn mit Walking on water, einem ambienten Instrumental im Pink Floyd-Stil mit softer Percussion und bezaubernder Flöte sowie High times, einer groovigen Poprock-Bluesrock-Nummer. Nach der Ballade To the sun and back again folkt das an eine Jamsession erinnernde White rooms. Der dritte Highlight der CD ist das herrlich relaxte und unterhaltsame Life is an elephant, das wieder von einem superben Prem-Joshua Bambusflöten-Solo garniert ist. Wie ein Mix aus Spliff und Toto mutet Down in Manh an, während das tolle Siga siga für leichten Blues/Funk-Flair sorgt, nicht zuletzt wegen der Bouzouki, dem langsamen Rhythmus und - wieder - einem sehr atmosphärischen Flötensolo.
Das Album schliesst mit einem Instrumental-Sonnenuntergang mit Slideguitar, End of summer.

Liebhaber von netter und lebensfroher Rockmusik und ambienter Worldmusic, die angesichts leichter Blues/Funk-Elemente keine Pickel bekommen, erhalten mit "Down in Manhi" ein rundum liebenswertes Album.

The die-hard DURP-fans know Fritz Rittmüller as the sound engineer and mixer of our "DisDURPance" compilations. Fritz has a passion - besides music - and that's
the beautiful country of Greece. Together with friends he recorded a very balanced CD called "Down in manh". Being a musician himself Fritz signed responsible
for vocals, drums and most of the compositions on this release.
Although this is neither metal nor prog I like this album. The sound is great, the musicianship is varied and very experienced. So what's this album about ?
This album is about the joyful sides of life and it exactly sounds like this ... friendly and joyful bluesy arrangements, bubbling rythms and different styles
of music. The CD starts with two highlights: The opener Walking on water is a (somehow pink floydish) ambient instrumental track with soft percussion, flute and charming atmosphere.
High times brings in some groovy poprockin' bluesrock. Following the ballad To the sun and back again is the jammin' and freakin' acoustic track
White rooms. Life is an elephant brings the third highlight ... a joyful and cool relaxed with very charming groove, beautifully
decorated by another stunning Prem Joshua bamboo-flute solo ! Down in Manh offers slight reaggae-rhythm influences, together with some soft-rock
... all together sounding like a mix of SPLIFF and TOTO. Siga siga is a fine bluesy-funky ballad with bouzouki, slowmo-groove and a damn haunting
melancholic bamboo flute solo of Mr. Flute-wizard himself, Prem Joshua. Next is another highlight, the entertaining He's a real greek man.
The album closes with an extremely sensitive and beautiful instrumental sunset with slide guitar ... End of summer.
Fans of nice and joyful rockmusic , ambient world music who don't get pimples when spotting some slight funk/blues-sounds get a very nice album.
