"Tempest" wurde im Jahr 2000 herausgebracht und enthält 58 Minuten Instrumental-Prog. Das Album kommt mit vollem Sound und präziser Spielfertigkeit daher. Die Bandbreite der Songs kann eigentlich nur als höchst unterhaltsam bezeichnet werden, denn sie reicht von Neoprog-Numemrn (Tempest), jazzig-komplexe SOngs (Yes I know), gespenstige Percussioneinlagen (

Viele InstrumentalProg-Alben legen hohe Spielkunst an den Tag, lassen jedoch den Abwechslungsreichtum vermissen. "Tempest" bietet beides !

NORTH STAR was founded in 1976 and so far this USA-based progrock combo has released more than ten items. "Tempest" was released in early 2000 and contains 58 minutes of instrumental progressive rock music.
The album comes in great and full sound and the musicianship to be found on it is quite fine. The bandwith of the songs features highly entertaining neoprogressive songs (like the great title track Tempest), jazzin' complex tracks (i.e. Yes I know), haunting percussion tracks (i.e. Bathroom by the bongos, beautifully decorated by dramatic guitar and mean synths), classic tunes (Prelude in C and Gettin gigue with it, both inspired by J.S. Bach), fusion prog (Opus V), eastern sitar playing (Raudra), groovin brass atmosphere (Plastic bombastic) and ancient fanfares soundtrack piece (Colossus, which is a rearrangment of the track March of the centurions).
Many instrumental progrock albums have great musicianship but lack of variety ... "Tempest" offers well balanced musicianship AND variety. An instrumental feast for true progrockers who like many styles of prog.
