SCAPEGOAT aus Speyer sind nunmehr seit 10 Jahren auf der Bühne. "Goddog of Prey" ist der Titel ihres neusten Outputs.

Bei SCAPEGOAT finden sich vielerlei EInflüsse ... der Opener Martyr beispielsweise legt starke LED ZEP-Anleihen an den Tag, kombiniert mit rohem Progmetal-Rock und leichten Alternative-Anklängen ergibt das Ganze eine herausragende Mischung. Nach dem Opener dürstet es nach mehr ... unglücklicherweise sind nur noch zwei weitere Highlights auszumachen, nämlich das variantenreiche Black hail sowie der düstere Harvester of death. Einige Male blitzen rifftechnische Parallelen zu SIEGES EVEN und RAGE auf, technisch gibts eigentlich nichts auszusetzen.

Nur für beinharte Metalrock-Fans geeignet. Melodie-Fanatiker werden hieran kaum Gefallen finden.

SCAPEGOAT from Speyer/Germany are around for more than 10 years now. "Goddog of prey" is the name of their new album.
SCAPEGOAT's music is stuffed with different influences ... during the opener Martyr you'll hear LED ZEPPLIN, TED NUGENT combined with raw progressive metalrock, heavy metal and alternative in the style of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. Unfortunately this track was the only highlight I could spot for my taste. The album sounds strong and full of energy. Sometimes the riffing reminded me of SIEGES EVEN and RAGE. Technically the band members know very well what they are doing. THis is NOT an album for the melodic fainted ones, it is only suitable for fans of heavy metalrock. In my opinion the album lacks of some melodic or rhythmic highlights (besides the great opener Martyr, the varied Black hail and the dark Harvester of death).
